Happy 2012

Welcome to the Association of College Unions International Region 15 website. On behalf of the Regional Leadership Team (RLT), I invite you to browse the website, which is full of new information about ACUI and also Region 15, which is comprised of campuses from Australia, California, Guam, Hawaii and Nevada.

We had such great successes with our 2011 Recreation Weekend at CSU Fullerton and our Regional Conference at the University of Southern California, "I Love It." We broke regional records in attendance and donations for our silent auction. While we are saying goodbye to some RLT members who have accomplished so much, we are welcoming a new group who promise to keep the tradition of excellence alive. We are excited to welcome our new student RLT members.

Upcoming regional events include the 2012 Recreation Weekend, which will take place at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on Super Bowl weekend, February 3-4. We are boasting one of the most economical Recreation Weekends as well. We are proud to say that the CUPSI is finally back on the west coast and will be hosted by the University of La Verne April 18-21, 2012. Our fall conference in November 2012 will be hosted by Sacramento State University.

This is the last year of my tenure as Regional Director and I have said several times before "the future is bright." Our region is doing quite well, increasing economically and we are growing constantly as practitioners. During my tenure I am happy to say that I have been instrumental in consolidating and revising our Regional Job Descriptions which are fully implemented and that I am continuing my contributions to the region and planning for our future conferences and recreation weekend. I have spoken with our new partner and member DeVry University and they are excited to assist in our regional needs for the future.

Our election process was smooth and we will transition Regional Director-Elect Raymond "Chip" West in November of 2012. The Region 15 family is strong and productive. I still encourage you to nominate those you feel are deserving of awards, scholarships or leadership development opportunities. Experiential learning and professional development are the cornerstones to our association. I look forward to an exciting and educational coming year. I hope we all learn something that we can share.
